Lord of the Vampyres

Polidori is known for his associations with the Romantic movement and credited by some as the creator of the vampire genre of fantasy fiction. The story was titled:The Vampyre: A Tale by Lord Byron.

Despite not having been written by Byron himself, the title stuck due to Lord Byron's reputation as a well-known author. The Vampyre was arguably the first vampire story to be written in English prose, with such a wide-ranging influence, that it created the now-popular image of the vampire as an aristocratic seducer.
